Julie's Fighting For All Of Us

Julie Fortier is running for Congress to put Southern Illinois first by fighting to expand rural healthcare access, protect veterans, invest in public schools, tackle climate change responsibly, defend reproductive rights, and strengthen our democracy, all while refusing corporate PAC and AIPAC money. She’s only accountable to you.

Accessible Healthcare
I'll fight to make medical care more affordable and accessible by working to bring healthcare options back to Southern IL. Rural communities deserve access to quality care close to home, and no one should have to choose between paying the bills and seeing a doctor. Healthcare should be affordable, accessible, and dependable for everyone, and our country must move towards a universal care option.
Veterans' Affairs
Being a veteran myself, I know that when service members sign up to serve, we put our lives on the line for our country. Congress should never risk taking care of these same service members when they come back home. I will work to ensure that the VA is not privatized and can continue to do what it was meant to do: serve the veterans who have given so much to our country.
Agriculture
Farmers in Southern Illinois help to feed & power our nation and our local economy, and they deserve meaningful support in Congress that makes a real impact by expanding market opportunities and fighting against policies like tariffs and forever wars that disrupt the market and spike costs for necessary items like fertilizer. I'm a strong supporter of Right to Repair.
Union Support
Strong unions built America's middle class. When workers have a seat at the table, wages rise, workplaces become safer, and local economies grow stronger. Every worker deserves dignity, respect, and the freedom to organize without fear.
Climate Change
I'm a scientist. I believe in facts, evidence, and listening to the data, and the science is clear: climate change is real, and we must act. Coal and energy production have supported families here for generations. The path forward must include the workers & communities who have helped power our state as we strengthen our local economy and move toward responsible solutions that protect our environment for future generations. Saying no to data centers in Southern Illinois is an essential part of that.
Strengthen Public Education
I support investing in public schools because every child deserves a quality education that prepares them to think critically, succeed in life, and feel welcome in their school. Investing in education is an investment in the future of Southern Illinois.
Codifying Roe v. Wade
After the Supreme Court overturned Roe, millions of Americans lost federal protections for reproductive healthcare and freedom. I support codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law to restore medical privacy and ensure access to safe, legal reproductive services nationwide.
Second Amendment
I believe the Second Amendment is a fundamental constitutional right, and I support responsible gun ownership. I will back common-sense measures that keep firearms out of the hands of dangerous individuals without infringing on the rights of law-abiding citizens. I also support education and safety initiatives that promote responsible firearm use.
Democracy & Freedom
In a turbulent time where voting and constitutional rights are being threatened, I will work to ensure that both are kept intact for all of the constituents in District 12. Every voice, regardless of their race, religion, gender, and political affiliation, has a right to be heard. Every person has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
